Srinagar: Contractors associated with the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department staged a protest at the Chief Engineer’s Complex in Rajbagh, demanding immediate release of pending payments.
According to Beyond Time News, scores of contractors gathered at the site and raised slogans against delays in clearing dues despite completion of multiple rural water supply projects.
The protesters said non-payment of bills for several months had pushed them into financial hardship, affecting their ability to repay bank loans, pay labourers, and meet basic household expenses.

A representative of the Contractors Coordination Committee, Nazir Ahmad, said many contractors were unable to pay loan instalments and school fees due to the delayed payments.
They urged authorities to release the outstanding dues immediately, warning that continued delays could disrupt ongoing development work and project implementation.
