Lahore: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has uncovered a new method of electricity theft during a targeted enforcement operation in the city.
According to Beyond Time News, officials said the raid exposed the use of remote-control devices to illegally manipulate electricity meters and steal power.
The operation was carried out on the instructions of LESCO Chief Executive Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt.
Shahdara Industrial Site Raided
LESCO teams conducted the raid at an industrial electricity connection in the Shahdara area.
According to Beyond Time News, two suspects were arrested for allegedly operating meters through remote-control devices, causing an estimated loss of Rs6.5 million to the utility.
Officials said cables, meters, and a transformer were also seized from the site during the operation.
Anti-Theft Campaign Expanded
LESCO officials said the crackdown on electricity theft is being intensified, with operations continuing across the region.
According to Beyond Time News, surveillance and inspection activities have been strengthened to identify illegal connections and prevent power losses.
Senior staff involved in the operation were appreciated for their efforts in the raid.

Action Against Employees
Earlier, LESCO also took disciplinary action against its own employees over power theft allegations.
According to Beyond Time News, 101 employees were dismissed over the past six months after being found involved in electricity theft cases.
The company also confirmed arrests of several staff members, while others were forced into retirement after charges were proven.
Ongoing Enforcement Drive
LESCO said its anti-theft drive will continue without discrimination to reduce losses and improve system efficiency.
According to Beyond Time News, officials emphasised strict monitoring and continued action against illegal electricity use across the network.
