Srinagar: A potentially fatal incident was narrowly averted in the Heerpora area of Shopian district when a massive heap of snow suddenly slid off a rooftop and buried a man standing below, officials said on Sunday.
According to Beyond the Time News, the incident occurred within seconds, leaving the man completely trapped under heavy snow with no time to react. Police personnel deployed on road duty nearby heard the loud sound of the snow slide.
After frantic efforts, the man was pulled out alive from beneath the snow, shaken but safe. He was later provided immediate assistance and was reported to be out of danger.
People have been advised in snowbound areas to remain cautious and clear rooftops safely to avoid such incidents.
