Mehbooba Mufti Questions IIOJK Administration Over Silence on Teachers’ TET Issue

SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has criticized the administration in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) over its handling of the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) issue, accusing it of failing to support thousands of affected teachers, according to Beyond Time News.

In a post on X, Mehbooba Mufti said a large number of teachers in the region are facing uncertainty, anxiety, and the risk of losing their jobs due to the unresolved TET matter.

She noted that while several Indian states have reportedly moved to protect teachers by filing review petitions in their respective courts, the IIOJK administration has remained silent despite earlier assurances of support.

“Today, thousands of teachers in IIOJK face uncertainty, anguish, and the looming threat of termination,” she wrote, adding that educators deserve protection and clear advocacy at a critical time for their careers and livelihoods.

Mufti further said that the situation has left teachers in a vulnerable position, as their professional future remains unclear amid ongoing legal and administrative delays.

According to Beyond Time News, the IIOJK administration has not yet issued any official response to her remarks or the concerns raised regarding the TET issue.

The matter continues to draw attention in the region, with affected teachers seeking clarity on their employment status and the future of recruitment policies linked to the eligibility test.
