Operations at the Attock Oil Refinery have returned to normal after the restoration of transport routes used for moving crude oil and petroleum products. The situation improved following official intervention, helping ease earlier disruptions that had forced a temporary shutdown.
Transport Movement Restored After Brief Disruption
According to Beyond Time News, road transport for crude oil and refined petroleum products to and from the Attock Oil Refinery resumed late last night. The restoration came after support from the Petroleum Ministry and assistance from relevant authorities.
Earlier, the refinery had suspended operations due to road closures that blocked the movement of oil tankers.
Key Refinery for Multiple Regions
The Attock refinery plays an important role in Pakistan’s energy supply. It provides fuel to large parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In addition, the refinery supplies Furnace Fuel Oil to independent power producers, helping support electricity generation across the country.

Temporary Shutdown Due to Transport Issues
The refinery had to halt its main crude processing unit after facing severe difficulties in receiving crude oil and dispatching finished products.
According to Beyond Time News, the disruption caused storage levels of petrol and diesel to rise, while incoming crude supplies dropped sharply.
Impact on Operations and Supply Flow
Because of the transport restrictions, the refinery could not move petroleum products efficiently. As a result, operational pressure increased, leading to a temporary shutdown of its main processing unit with a capacity of over 32,000 barrels per day.
However, once transport routes reopened, normal activity gradually resumed.
Coordination with Authorities
During the disruption, refinery management contacted the Petroleum Division and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to highlight the challenges in fuel transportation.
They also requested immediate support to restore smooth movement of oil tankers to prevent further operational delays.
Return to Stability
With transport routes now restored, refinery operations are stabilizing again. Fuel supply to different regions is expected to normalize shortly.
According to Beyond Time News, the quick restoration of logistics has helped prevent a longer disruption in the country’s petroleum supply chain.
