Ankara: Members of Iran’s national football team have started the visa process for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with several players visiting the United States embassy in Ankara on Thursday.
According to Beyond Time News, at least four players and a team official submitted their applications as part of routine pre-tournament travel arrangements.
The squad is currently holding a training camp in Antalya, Turkey, as part of its build-up to the World Cup.
Two Friendlies Planned in Antalya
Iran will play two warm-up matches during the camp — against Gambia on May 29 and Mali on June 4.
According to Beyond Time News, Iran enters the fixtures ranked 21st in the FIFA standings, ahead of Mali (52nd) and Gambia (116th).
World Cup Group Fixtures
Iran, known as “Team Melli,” has been drawn in Group G. The team will open its campaign against New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 15, followed by Belgium in the same city, before concluding the group stage against Egypt in Seattle.

According to Beyond Time News, Iran is aiming to reach the World Cup knockout stage for the first time, after six previous appearances without advancing beyond the group phase.
