Karachi Police Arrest Eight Suspects, Including Excise Inspector, in Kidnapping for Ransom Case

Karachi: Police have arrested eight suspects, including a serving excise inspector, in connection with a short-term kidnapping for ransom case in the city.

According to Beyond Time News, the accused allegedly abducted a citizen and collected Rs150,000 in ransom for his release. The arrests were made during an intelligence-based operation conducted by Brigade Police in Karachi’s East Zone.

Police Uniforms Recovered During Raid

Officials said the suspects allegedly used police uniforms to impersonate law enforcement personnel and mislead victims during criminal activities.

During the raid, four suspects — including the excise inspector — were found wearing official uniforms. Police also recovered four pistols and a vehicle believed to have been used in the crimes.

Investigators believe the group was involved in multiple short-term kidnapping and extortion cases across Karachi, targeting citizens and demanding ransom money for their release.

Intelligence-Based Operation Leads to Arrests

Police said a coordinated trap was set after several complaints and intelligence inputs linked the suspects to similar incidents.

The suspects were taken into custody during a targeted operation, and cases have been registered against them. Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the gang’s involvement in other crimes.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Inspector Hamid, Irfan, Shahzaib, Shehryar, Amir, Afaq, Jamshed, and Zain.
