Growing Concern Over Treatment of Political Prisoners in IIOJK
Srinagar: Hurriyat leaders and political organizations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have strongly criticized India over the continued detention of Kashmiri political activists and Hurriyat leaders.
According to Beyond Time News, the leaders accused the Indian government of targeting Kashmiri activists because of their political views and support for the Kashmir freedom movement.
They said authorities are using strict laws and fabricated cases to silence dissent in the region. In addition, the leaders claimed many detainees are being denied basic legal rights and fair treatment.
Hurriyat Leaders Demand Immediate Release
The Hurriyat leadership stated that several political workers remain jailed in different prisons across India and IIOJK. They described the arrests as politically motivated and said the crackdown aims to create fear among the people.
Furthermore, the leaders alleged that authorities continue to use harsh policies against Kashmiri activists who oppose India’s control over the territory.
They also expressed concern about the condition of political prisoners and urged human rights organizations to take immediate notice of the situation.
