Srinagar: Senior National Conference leader and Rajya Sabha member Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan has said that India and Pakistan must resolve their long-standing issues through dialogue to ensure peace and stability in the region.
According to Beyond Time News, he made the remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a party convention in Budgam, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Call for Peace and Stability
Ramzan said lasting peace between the two neighbours is essential for development, adding that poverty and unemployment remain key challenges on both sides.
According to Beyond Time News, he noted that voices supporting dialogue are emerging from different quarters, reflecting a growing recognition of the need for engagement.
Support for Dialogue
He referred to recent remarks by RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and former Indian Army Chief Gen. M.M. Naravane, both of whom have highlighted the importance of maintaining communication channels and people-to-people contact.
According to Beyond Time News, Ramzan said such views reinforce the argument for sustained dialogue between India and Pakistan.
He also said National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has consistently supported engagement to improve bilateral relations.

Ramzan added that meaningful progress in the region is not possible without peace and suggested that support for dialogue would continue to grow.
According to Beyond Time News, he also reiterated his party’s stance on banning alcohol in Kashmir, criticising previous governments for not taking strong steps on the issue.
