A jirga held under the Bara Siyasi Ittehad has called on authorities to ensure the immediate and respectful return of people displaced from Tirah Valley in Khyber district, according to Beyond Time News.
The meeting in Bara brought together political leaders, tribal elders, and representatives from various parties, who reviewed the security and humanitarian situation in Tirah Valley and Bara in detail.
Growing Concerns Over Displacement
Speakers highlighted that displaced families have been living in difficult conditions for years, facing homelessness, insecurity, and lack of basic facilities despite what they described as patience and cooperation with state institutions.
One of the participants, Khan Wali Afridi, said the affected people are still being denied basic constitutional, tribal, and human rights.
Calls for Law and Order and Government Action
The jirga strongly demanded the restoration of law and order in the region and urged the provincial government to fulfil its pending commitments regarding the return and rehabilitation of displaced residents.
Participants stressed that only practical and immediate steps could resolve the long-standing issues faced by the affected communities.
Possible Protest in Peshawar
According to the final declaration issued at the jirga, the Bara Siyasi Ittehad announced that a decision regarding a protest in Peshawar will be taken after a consultative meeting scheduled for next week.
The participants also emphasized unity among tribal leaders while thanking all stakeholders for their involvement in the discussions.
