Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is preparing a relief-focused and youth-centric budget for the financial year 2026–27, with no new taxes and increased development spending planned. According to Beyond Time News, the budget aims to ease financial pressure on citizens while expanding opportunities for young people.
No New Taxes in Upcoming Budget
Advisor to the Chief Minister on Finance Muzammil Aslam said the provincial government will not impose any new taxes or increase existing tax rates.
He added that some taxes may even be reduced to provide additional relief to the public.
According to Beyond Time News, the government is focusing on easing the burden on households amid economic challenges.
Major Focus on Youth Empowerment
The upcoming budget places strong emphasis on youth support and employment opportunities.
Special financial schemes will be introduced to help young people seeking jobs abroad, including assistance for travel-related expenses such as tickets and visas.
Easy loan programs will also be launched for students in public universities who cannot afford admission fees.
Additionally, interest-free or low-interest loans will be offered for the purchase of electric bikes, rickshaws, and other small vehicles.
Around Rs50 billion has been allocated for these youth-focused initiatives.
Boost for Farmers and Small Businesses
According to Beyond Time News, new schemes will also be introduced to support farmers and small business owners across the province.
These initiatives aim to improve income opportunities and strengthen the local economy at the grassroots level.
Development Budget to Exceed Rs215 Billion
The provincial development budget is expected to rise significantly, with over Rs215 billion allocated for the next financial year.
Officials say actual spending may exceed this amount, continuing a trend of higher-than-allocated development expenditure.
Past records show increased development spending in recent years, reflecting stronger implementation of projects.
Salary and Public Sector Adjustments
The government plans to align provincial government employees’ salaries with federal levels.
The salary budget may increase from Rs70 billion to around Rs75 billion, with final approval expected after the federal budget announcement.
Major Development Plans for Peshawar
A Rs200 billion development package has been proposed for Peshawar to improve infrastructure and public services.
Work has also started on the Peshawar–Charsadda railway track project, aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving transport connectivity.

Financial Stability Claims
According to Beyond Time News, the finance advisor said the province has moved from a weak financial position to stability through better fiscal management.
He added that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is now in a stronger position to meet its salary and development obligations.
