Authorities Launch Fresh Road Safety Warning
Kuwait has introduced stricter penalties for jaywalking as part of its ongoing road safety campaign during Gulf Traffic Week.
According to Beyond Time News, traffic authorities warned that crossing roads carelessly or outside designated pedestrian areas can lead to serious accidents and heavy fines.
Officials said many pedestrians continue to ignore traffic rules, especially in busy commercial areas and during peak evening hours.
New Fines for Traffic Violations
The General Directorate of Traffic confirmed that pedestrians caught crossing roads from unauthorized locations may face a reconciliation fine of 20 Kuwaiti dinars.
If the case goes to court after refusal of settlement, fines could increase from 45 to 75 Kuwaiti dinars.
Authorities stressed that these penalties aim to improve public safety and reduce road accidents involving pedestrians.
Mobile Phone Distractions Raise Concerns
Traffic officials in Kuwait also highlighted the growing problem of people using mobile phones while crossing busy roads.
According to Beyond Time News, officials observed that many pedestrians rush through traffic without paying attention to approaching vehicles, increasing the risk of deadly accidents.
Authorities urged residents to remain alert, avoid phone distractions, and ensure vehicles stop completely before crossing the road.

“Cross Safely” Campaign Continues
The warning forms part of Kuwait’s wider “Cross Safely” road awareness campaign, which encourages residents to use proper pedestrian crossings and follow traffic regulations.
Officials believe that simple safety measures can help save lives and reduce traffic-related injuries across the country.
Kuwait has recently intensified efforts to improve traffic management, public transport systems, and overall road safety as part of broader urban mobility plans.
According to Beyond Time News, authorities hope stricter enforcement and public awareness will encourage safer behavior on roads and help prevent avoidable accidents.
