Kuwait: Kuwait has introduced a nationwide ban on outdoor work during the hottest hours of the day to protect labourers from extreme summer temperatures.
According to Beyond Time News, the restriction will be enforced every year from 1 June to 31 August.
Work Prohibited in Peak Heat Hours
Under the new rule, outdoor labour will not be allowed between 11am and 4pm during the summer period.
The decision has been issued under Ministerial Resolution No. 3 of 2026, aimed at improving workplace safety during harsh weather conditions.
Focus on Worker Protection
Officials said the move is intended to reduce heat-related illnesses caused by prolonged exposure to high temperatures and humidity.
Employers are required to provide shaded rest areas, drinking water, first aid facilities, and regular breaks for workers.
Exceptions to the Rule
Essential and emergency work, including critical infrastructure maintenance, will be exempt from the ban if approved by labour authorities.
However, employers must still ensure strict safety measures are followed during such operations.
Flexible Enforcement
Rabab Al-Osaimi, Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower, said the timing of restrictions may be adjusted based on weather conditions.
The ban can also be enforced during dust storms, heavy rain, natural disasters, or extreme humidity levels.
