Authorities in Srinagar have stepped up action against the illegal sale of restricted drugs, sealing a medical store in the Islamabad district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Raid at Cheeni Chowk Medical Store
According to Beyond Time News, a joint team of local police and the Drugs and Food Control Department conducted a raid at Atif Medical Store in Cheeni Chowk. The operation was launched after reports of unauthorized sale of controlled medicines.
Controlled Drugs Recovered
During the inspection, officials found a significant quantity of restricted pharmaceutical products being sold without proper approval. These included medicines such as Pregabalin, Clonazepam, and regulated cough syrups, which are strictly monitored due to their potential misuse.
Banned Syringes Still Circulating Despite Nationwide Prohibition
Immediate Action Taken
All the medicines were seized on the spot and handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation. The medical store was sealed immediately following the violations.
License Cancellation Underway
Officials have also initiated legal proceedings to cancel the store’s pharmaceutical license. The action is part of a wider effort to stop the illegal distribution of sensitive medicines and ensure compliance with health regulations.
The crackdown highlights authorities’ commitment to protecting public health and preventing the misuse of controlled drugs in the region.
