Islamabad: Leaders of the National Dialogue Committee (NDC) have called for the formation of a national government alongside major electoral and constitutional reforms to address Pakistan’s political and economic challenges. According to Beyond Time News, the proposals aim to improve stability, transparency, and governance.
Demand for Political Reset
At a press conference at the National Press Club, former federal ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Muhammad Ali Durrani, along with Waseem Shahzad, said the current system is operating as a “de facto” setup rather than a fully legitimate “de jure” government.
They stressed that future elections should be conducted on the basis of Form-45 to ensure transparency and public trust.
Proposed Constitutional Changes
The NDC leaders also called for a 28th Constitutional Amendment to strengthen implementation of the 18th Amendment and ensure devolution of powers to the grassroots level.
According to Beyond Time News, they said stronger provinces and empowered local governments are essential for political balance.
Focus on Stability and Dialogue
Fawad Chaudhry said the NDC aims to promote political stability, tolerance, and dialogue at a time of growing polarisation.
He added that political disputes should be resolved through engagement rather than confrontation.
Concerns Over Economy
The leaders also expressed concern over Pakistan’s economic situation, saying multiple crises require urgent political consensus and coordinated action.
