PM Shehbaz, Chinese Firms Discuss Industrial Expansion Under CPEC Phase II

Beijing: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a series of high-level meetings with leading Chinese companies on Tuesday, focusing on expanding industrial, agricultural, and infrastructure cooperation under China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Phase II.

Agriculture and Food Security Cooperation

The prime minister met a delegation of FAMSUN led by CEO Zhengjun Chen, where he highlighted Pakistan’s priority of reducing post-harvest losses and improving food security systems.

He invited the company to establish manufacturing and technology transfer facilities in Pakistan, particularly through Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and the Green Pakistan Initiative.

Maritime, Energy, and Industrial Investment

In another meeting, PM Shehbaz engaged with Shandong Xinxu Group Corporation Chairman Hou Jianxin and representatives of the company.

The prime minister also met officials from China Communications Construction Corporation (CCCC) and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), praising their long-term role in Pakistan’s infrastructure development.

He highlighted major projects such as the Karakoram Highway and Rashakai Special Economic Zone, and reaffirmed commitment to advancing key connectivity initiatives under CPEC Phase II.
