Catherine, Princess of Wales has begun her first overseas visit since revealing her cancer diagnosis, marking an important moment in her return to public royal duties.
The Princess of Wales arrived in Reggio Emilia on May 13 wearing a tailored blue suit by designer Edeline Lee. Thousands of residents gathered to welcome her during the two-day visit focused on early childhood development.
Kate impressed locals by speaking Italian during interactions with children, parents, and teachers. According to local educator Roberta Marzi, she introduced herself as “Catarina,” the Italian form of Catherine, and spoke confidently throughout several exchanges.
Focus on Early Childhood Education
The visit centers on the internationally respected Reggio Emilia educational philosophy, which encourages creativity, exploration, and child-led learning. During the trip, Kate met educators, researchers, and families to learn more about the approach and discuss child development initiatives.
