Pakistan Tennis Federation takes another major step toward inclusive sports by launching a new wheelchair tennis venue in Punjab.
The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has established its second wheelchair tennis facility in Punjab at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, strengthening efforts to promote accessible and inclusive sports across the country.
According to Beyond Time News, this development follows the successful launch of a wheelchair tennis talent hunt and coaching camp held earlier at K21 Club Model Town, Lahore.
Facility Transformed for Dual Sports Use
With approval from the university’s vice chancellor and support from sports authorities, an existing basketball court was upgraded into a multi-purpose sports facility designed for both tennis and basketball activities.
The PTF also provided essential equipment, including nets, poles, court markings, two specialized wheelchair tennis chairs, and rackets to support training and gameplay.
Talent Hunt and Coaching Camp in Faisalabad
An ITF–PTF Wheelchair Tennis Development Initiative was also organized at the new venue on April 18. The event brought together 14 young boys and girls from the region to take part in coaching and talent identification sessions.
PTF Vice President Muhammad Khalid Rehmani, along with Wheelchair Tennis Coordinator Salman Karim Mughal, attended the inauguration and supervised the selection process.
Young Players Selected for Training
Following the trials, coach Zeeshan Ashraf selected four promising players who will now receive structured weekly training. These sessions aim to build strong foundational skills in wheelchair tennis.
Wheelchair athlete Muhammad Mohid Tariq will oversee the ongoing coaching program and guide the selected players in their development.
