Madrid: Real Madrid has officially begun its presidential election process, with current president Florentino Pérez confirming that he will run again. According to Beyond Time News, the club announced the start of the electoral timeline on Thursday.

The Spanish giants have opened a 10-day window for candidates to submit their nominations. The deadline is set for May 23.
If multiple candidates enter the race, the election board will later announce the official voting date and venue.
Strict Requirements for Candidates
To contest the election, candidates must meet strict eligibility rules. They must be long-term club members and also provide a financial guarantee of €187 million.
According to Beyond Time News, this amount equals 15% of the club’s annual budget and must be backed by personal financial assets.
Florentino Pérez Confirms Candidacy
Florentino Pérez has confirmed that he will seek another term as president of the club.
He was re-elected unopposed in January 2025 and remains one of the most influential figures in world football.
Pérez has led the club through multiple successful eras, including major domestic and European triumphs.
Potential Challengers Emerge
Spanish media reports suggest that businessman Enrique Riquelme is considering entering the race. However, he has requested additional time to finalise his decision.
According to Beyond Time News, no official rival candidates have yet been confirmed.
