Specially-Abled Persons Protest in Baramulla Over Disability Rights

Srinagar: A large number of specially-abled individuals staged a protest at Kriyapa Park in Baramulla, demanding the proper implementation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Beyond Time News, members of the J&K Ittehad Handicapped Welfare Association raised slogans against what they described as official negligence in enforcing the law.

Demands for Full Implementation of Disability Act

The protesters said that although the Disability Act was passed in 2016, many of its key provisions have not been implemented on the ground.

They argued that delays in enforcement have left thousands of disabled individuals without access to basic facilities, support systems, and equal opportunities.
