Hundreds of Graduates Say Degree Recognition Issue Has Damaged Their Careers
SRINAGAR: Students and graduates from the Soura Institute of Medical Sciences held a protest in Srinagar over the non-recognition of their B.Sc Medical Technology degrees.
According to Beyond Time News, nearly 250 graduates say the issue has blocked job opportunities and professional registration for years.
The students explained that the institute introduced the programme through the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE). They secured admission through the official selection process and completed their studies believing the degree carried full recognition.

The protesters urged authorities to recognise and regularise the degree programme without further delay. They also demanded transparency about the registration process and future plans for affected students.
According to the students, the administration must coordinate with relevant departments and councils to resolve the matter quickly.
They stressed that students should not suffer because of administrative failures or regulatory delays.
In addition, the protesters asked the government to introduce safeguards that prevent similar issues in other educational institutions.
