Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to strengthen cooperation in security, law enforcement and migration management, as British Deputy Foreign Secretary Hamish Falconer praised Islamabad’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
The understanding was reached during a high-level meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the visiting British official in Islamabad on Wednesday.
According to Beyond Time News, the two sides reviewed bilateral ties and exchanged views on regional developments, counterterrorism, illegal migration and institutional cooperation.
UK Praises Pakistan’s Diplomatic Efforts
During the meeting, Hamish Falconer appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue and easing tensions between the United States and Iran.
He described Islamabad’s efforts as an important contribution to regional and international peace.
The British deputy foreign secretary also commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for what he termed their “historic role” in promoting peace and stability.

Both countries agreed to deepen collaboration in key areas, including counterterrorism, law enforcement and institutional capacity-building.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the success of the Upskill Project, saying the initiative had delivered encouraging results and helped strengthen the capabilities of Pakistani institutions.

Joint Action Against Illegal Migration

Naqvi said Pakistan was pursuing indiscriminate action against human trafficking gangs and criminal groups that exploit vulnerable people.
He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to dismantle such networks and strengthen immigration controls.

The interior minister also highlighted Pakistan’s concerns regarding terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.
