US Keeps Door Open for Iran Talks While Tightening Global Blockade

The United States is turning up the heat on Iran. But it is also leaving room for diplomacy. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth delivered a firm and carefully worded message from the Pentagon on Friday that made both points very clear.

According to Beyond Time News, Hegseth said Iran still has an open window to come to the negotiating table. The condition is simple. Iran must give up its nuclear weapons program in a way that is meaningful and can be independently verified.

The Blockade Is Getting Bigger

On the military front, Hegseth confirmed that the US blockade of Iranian ports has gone global and is continuing to expand. Two Iranian dark fleet ships that had left Iranian ports were seized by US forces on the very same day.

He also confirmed that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is still moving. That matters because a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes through that narrow waterway every single day.

When asked how long the blockade would last, Hegseth was direct. According to Beyond Time News, he said the US is not in any rush and has all the time in the world. The blockade stays until something changes.

Iran Accused of Attacking Ships

General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, added another serious accusation. He stated that Iran had attacked five merchant ships. That claim raises the stakes considerably and signals that tensions in the region are anything but settled.

The Bottom Line

Washington is squeezing Iran hard while keeping a diplomatic exit available. The message to Tehran is clear. Negotiate seriously or face a blockade with no expiry date.
