Younis Khan Expected to Replace Sarfaraz Ahmed as Pakistan Test Head Coach

Major Shake-Up in Pakistan Cricket Setup

Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan is expected to replace Sarfaraz Ahmed as the Test head coach of the national team, according to sources. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not issued an official confirmation yet.

Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Short Coaching Spell

Sarfaraz Ahmed took charge as head coach in April this year. He first led the team in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

Pakistan lost the series 2-0. The defeats extended the team’s poor form in Test cricket.

Pressure Builds After Consecutive Whitewashes

Pakistan suffered back-to-back whitewashes against Bangladesh in the longest format. These results increased pressure on the coaching staff and team management.

Sources say the PCB is now reviewing key positions in the Test setup.

Possible Change in Captaincy

Reports also suggest a possible captaincy change in the Test side. Shan Masood may lose the role. Salman Ali Agha is being considered as a replacement.

Younis Khan’s New Responsibilities

Younis Khan is likely to take over as Test head coach. He may also join the national selection committee.

Younis previously captained Pakistan. He also led the team to the 2009 ICC T20 World Cup title.

Mohammad Hafeez Likely to Get Senior Role

Mohammad Hafeez is expected to become Director of International Cricket. The position has been vacant since last year.

He may also join the selection committee. Other members include Aqib Javed, Misbah-ul-Haq, Asad Shafiq, and Sarfaraz Ahmed.

PCB Plans Structural Changes

The PCB is planning wider changes in team management, according to insiders. The board aims to assign dual roles to senior former players.

An official announcement is expected soon.
