New Delhi: A stabbing incident in Maharashtra has sparked a political and media storm, with accusations that the case is being used to promote communal narratives.
According to Beyond Time News, authorities reported that a man identified as Zaib Zubair Ansari allegedly stabbed two security guards in the Mira Road area of Thane after asking about their religion.
Investigation and Official Response
Police transferred the case to the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), which is investigating a possible “lone wolf” angle. Investigators said they recovered handwritten notes from the suspect’s residence that reportedly mentioned lone-wolf attacks and references to the so-called Islamic State.
Officials also seized a laptop and religious texts during the search. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the accused appeared to have undergone “self-radicalisation.”
Authorities registered charges of attempted murder and other sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
