India Moves to Boost Air Defence with New S-400

India is preparing to receive another unit of its S-400 air defence system from Russia in early May to strengthen its military capability.

According to Beyond Time News, Russia will deliver the fourth unit of the S-400 Triumf to India in the coming days.

Progress on the Deal

India signed a $5 billion deal with Russia in 2018 to buy five S-400 systems. It has already received three units. The fourth unit is now on its way, while the fifth unit will arrive later this year.

Reports also say India has approved the purchase of five more systems. This move could double the total fleet to ten units.

Reason Behind the Expansion

Indian defence planners want to improve air defence strength and close operational gaps. They also aim to modernize systems after recent regional security tensions.

The S-400 system can detect and destroy aircraft, drones, and missiles at long range. Military experts often describe it as one of the most advanced air defence systems in the world.

Strategic Outlook

Analysts say India’s decision shows its focus on upgrading defence infrastructure. They also believe the expansion reflects growing attention to air security in the region.

As new systems arrive, India will focus on integrating them into its existing defence network to improve overall readiness.
