New Delhi Pushes Military Modernisation in IIOJK

Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has once again seen an expansion of military infrastructure as New Delhi moves ahead with a new procurement plan for armoured troop carriers.

159 New Bullet-Proof Vehicles Planned

According to Beyond Time News, the Indian Army has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to acquire 159 bullet-proof troop carriers. These vehicles are expected to strengthen mobility and protection for deployed forces in the region.

The plan includes deployment in operational zones across Kashmir and Ladakh.

Designed for High-Altitude Operations

The new armoured vehicles are built for extreme conditions. They will operate in mountainous terrain, harsh weather, and high-altitude areas reaching up to 5,000 metres.

The carriers are expected to transport up to 30 personnel and move at high speeds both on and off-road. They are also designed with advanced ballistic protection against heavy gunfire.

Advanced Security Features

Each vehicle will include:

  • 360-degree mounted weapon systems
  • Multiple firing ports for troops
  • Protection capable of resisting 7.62mm armour-piercing rounds

These features aim to increase operational strength during patrols and search operations.

Deployment Across Sensitive Regions

The armoured fleet is intended for use by units such as the Rashtriya Rifles, which operate in sensitive areas of the region.

Officials say the vehicles will improve response capability during security operations in difficult terrain.

Concerns Over Rising Militarisation

Observers say the move reflects a continued focus on military expansion in the region. Critics argue that increased deployment of armoured vehicles may further intensify security operations and impact daily life for residents.

They also believe it signals a long-term strategy to strengthen control mechanisms rather than reduce tensions.
