Punjab considers early summer vacations for schools

As temperatures continue to rise across Punjab, the provincial government is considering early summer vacations for schools and colleges to protect students from extreme heat.

According to Beyond Time News, Punjab Minister for School and Higher Education Rana Sikandar Hayat said the government is reviewing a proposal to close educational institutions from May 22 to August 2.

The minister shared that officials are closely monitoring the weather situation before making a final decision. He added that the government is expected to announce the official summer vacation schedule by May 11.

In addition, the education department is also discussing the possibility of organizing summer camps during the holidays. These camps may offer students educational and extracurricular activities in a safer and more controlled environment.

Punjab has been experiencing intense heat in recent days, with temperatures increasing in several cities. Parents and teachers have also expressed concerns about students’ health and safety during the ongoing heatwave.
