Islamabad authorities have temporarily closed popular hiking trails as part of enhanced security arrangements and traffic management in the federal capital.
According to Beyond Time News, the decision comes during heightened security protocols linked to the arrival of foreign delegations.
Hiking Trails Closed Until Further Notice
A formal notification confirms that several well-known hiking routes, including Trail 2, Trail 3, Trail 4, and Trail 5, have been closed effective April 20. Officials have stated that the closures will remain in place until further notice for security reasons.
Traffic Plan Introduced in Islamabad
Alongside the trail closures, a detailed traffic management plan has been implemented across the city. Key roads and major arteries are either closed or temporarily restricted to ensure smooth security operations.
The Expressway from Korral to Zero Point has been shut down, while the Srinagar Highway may face intermittent closures. The Red Zone and surrounding areas have also been completely sealed off for all types of traffic.
Alternative Routes for Commuters
Authorities have advised citizens to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. Residents of sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 are encouraged to travel via Margalla Road and Ninth Avenue.
Traffic from Faisal Avenue and Zero Point is being diverted toward Ninth Avenue. In case of closures between Zero Point and Korral Chowk, commuters can use routes such as Srinagar Highway, Stadium Road, Murree Road, and Rawal Road.
If Park Road or Club Road is blocked, traffic will be redirected toward Tramri Chowk.

Heavy traffic has also been banned from entering the city until further notice. Transporters traveling between major cities are being redirected to use the motorway via designated interchanges.
Public Advisory Issued
Authorities have urged transporters and daily commuters to avoid unnecessary travel to Islamabad during this period. Citizens are also encouraged to stay updated through official channels, including Islamabad Traffic Police social media platforms, WhatsApp updates, and FM 92.4 for real-time traffic information.
