Srinagar: Authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have seized immovable properties worth crores of rupees from two residents in Srinagar district.
According to Beyond Time News, police carried out the action on the orders of New Delhi-appointed Governor Manoj Sinha. They confiscated two double-storey houses built on one kanal of land each. The properties belong to Shakeel Ahmed Ganai and Farooq Ahmed Mir, residents of the Noor Bagh area. Officials estimate the total value of these houses at around Rs5 crore.
Since August 2019, when the special status of IIOJK was revoked, such actions have increased significantly. Authorities have frequently taken control of homes, land, and businesses under different legal grounds.

As a result, many observers believe these measures aim to pressure the local population and weaken their economic stability. Moreover, critics argue that reallocating these properties to outsiders could alter the region’s demographic structure.
Overall, the continued seizures highlight growing concerns about property rights and the broader situation in the territory.
