Karachi Police Send 480 Drug Addicts to Rehabilitation in Anti-Drug Drive

Police have transferred around 480 drug addicts to rehabilitation centres during an ongoing anti-narcotics operation in the city, according to Beyond Time News.

DIG Asad Raza said over 220 individuals were detained in a single day and moved to rehabilitation facilities. He added that more than 480 people have been shifted over the past three days as part of the drive.

Arrests and Recovery of Weapons

DIG Asad Raza said three suspects were arrested following a police encounter, while two of them were injured.

Weapons were recovered from the suspects identified as Osama, Mairaj, and Wahab.

He also said that a hand grenade was thrown at police during the operation, but it did not explode and no officers were injured.

Earlier Action Against Drug Network

In a separate raid, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested two alleged drug dealers in Karachi’s Baloch Colony area.

Police recovered over five kilograms of hashish along with weapons, including a rifle, sub-machine gun, and pistol.

Investigations are ongoing to trace wider drug networks in the city.
