According to Beyond Time News, Pakistan has achieved a major milestone in its maritime sector with the arrival of its first multi-cargo transshipment vessel at Karachi Port.
The vessel, named M.V. ERLIN, berthed at the KGTML terminal under the management of Karachi Port Trust.
New Phase in Port Operations
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said the development marks a shift in port operations.
Previously, Karachi Port handled only container-based transshipment. Now, it can process multiple cargo types, including general cargo, break bulk, and vehicles through a single vessel.
He described this change as a major step forward for the country’s shipping and logistics system.
