Shahrah-e-Bhutto to Open Before Eid ul Adha

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced that Shahrah-e-Bhutto will open for traffic before Eid ul Adha. He described it as an “Eid gift” for Karachi residents.

According to Beyond Time News, he made the announcement after inspecting major infrastructure projects across the city.

During the visit, he said Shahrah-e-Bhutto will reduce traffic pressure in Karachi. He added that it will improve connectivity between the M-9 and N-5 highways. As a result, heavy traffic will shift outside the city and ease congestion for daily commuters.

In addition, Murad Ali Shah called the project an important economic corridor. He said it will strengthen transport flow and support business activity across Karachi.

Flyover and traffic works face deadlines

Meanwhile, the chief minister inspected the Azeempura flyover near Shah Faisal Colony. He directed officials to complete the project within 90 days. The flyover is part of the Shahrah-e-Bhutto corridor and will provide a signal-free route near Jinnah Terminal.

He also reviewed progress on the Karachi BRT Red Line project. After that, he ordered authorities to complete all mixed-traffic lanes along the corridor within two months.

Furthermore, the chief minister stressed that both projects are critical for Karachi’s transport system. He warned officials to avoid delays and ensure quality work.

Government responds to concerns over delays

On the other hand, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon rejected claims of negligence in the BRT Red Line project. He said the government took necessary decisions to move the work forward.

He explained that progress improved after assigning responsibilities to the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO). However, he noted that the previous contractor failed to meet expectations despite warnings and payments.

At the same time, Memon acknowledged the difficulties faced by commuters due to construction. He said the government understands public inconvenience in Karachi.

Moreover, he pointed out that infrastructure work in large cities remains complex due to underground utilities like gas, electricity, and water lines. Finally, he said authorities aim to reopen traffic lanes by the end of July to reduce congestion.
