Pro-freedom leaders call allegations “politically motivated”
Srinagar: Hurriyat leaders and several pro-freedom organizations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have strongly rejected recent allegations made by the India-appointed police chief against Pakistan and the Kashmir freedom movement.
According to Beyond Time News, IIOJK Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat claimed during a press conference in Srinagar that security forces were fighting what he described as “Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and narco-terrorism” in the region.
His remarks immediately triggered strong reactions from Hurriyat leaders and political observers across occupied Kashmir.
Hurriyat leaders defend Kashmir movement
Hurriyat representatives described the statements as part of a long-running campaign to discredit the Kashmir freedom movement and shift international attention away from the ground realities in the region.
The leaders stated that the Kashmiri struggle represents a political and indigenous movement linked to the right to self-determination, which they say aligns with relevant United Nations resolutions.
They argued that Indian authorities continue to portray political dissent and demands for self-determination as security threats in order to justify strict crackdowns in the territory.
According to the leaders, linking the movement with terrorism or drug trafficking creates a misleading narrative and ignores the political nature of the Kashmir dispute.
Concerns over security operations in IIOJK
Hurriyat leaders also criticized ongoing security operations across IIOJK.
They claimed that authorities frequently conduct raids, cordon-and-search operations, property seizures, and preventive detentions in different areas of the region.
Political observers say residents in several districts continue to report increased surveillance, restrictions, and arrests during anti-terror operations.
The leaders added that such actions have intensified pressure on local communities, particularly young people.
Pakistan’s support highlighted
Rejecting the allegations against Pakistan, Hurriyat leaders said Islamabad has consistently supported the Kashmir issue through political, diplomatic, and moral channels.
They further stated that Pakistan has repeatedly called for a peaceful resolution of the dispute according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and relevant international resolutions.
The leaders also stressed that accusations against Pakistan would not weaken public support for the Kashmir cause.

Appeal to international community
Hurriyat organizations urged international human rights groups and global institutions to closely monitor developments in IIOJK.
They called on the international community to examine what they described as attempts to suppress political dissent and restrict civil freedoms in the region.
Analysts believe the latest exchange of statements may further increase political tensions surrounding the Kashmir dispute, which remains a major issue in South Asian geopolitics.
