APHC-AJK Pays Tribute to Veteran Kashmir Freedom Leader Chaudhry Hakimuddin

ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter held a condolence and prayer meeting in Islamabad to honour the life and services of veteran Kashmir leader Chaudhry Hakimuddin Gorsi, who recently passed away in his native village in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The meeting, chaired by APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, brought together Hurriyat leaders and activists who paid rich tribute to the late leader’s lifelong dedication to the Kashmir freedom movement.

Speakers described Chaudhry Hakimuddin as a sincere, courageous and steadfast activist who remained committed to the struggle for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination despite enduring years of hardship and repression. They noted that he spent eight years in prison for advocating the Kashmir cause, but the challenges he faced only strengthened his resolve and commitment.

The participants recalled that following his release, veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani appointed him as his special representative for the Poonch and Rajouri regions, reflecting the trust and confidence placed in his leadership and unwavering dedication to the movement.

Speakers also highlighted that continued repression and persecution by Indian authorities forced many members of his family to migrate, with several now living in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The gathering offered special prayers for the departed leader, asking Allah Almighty to accept his sacrifices and services for the Kashmir cause, forgive his shortcomings, and grant him the highest place in Jannah.
