Residents Protest Garbage Dumping Near Tarli Bridge in Handwara

Residents of Waskhura and nearby villages in Handwara staged a protest near Tarli Bridge against the alleged dumping of garbage in the area by the Municipal Committee.

According to Beyond Time News, the protest temporarily blocked the road and disrupted traffic for some time as locals demanded immediate action from the authorities.

Residents said the continuous dumping of waste near the bridge has created serious environmental and health concerns for people living nearby.

A local protester, Mohammad Rustam Dar, said several domestic animals had reportedly died after consuming garbage dumped at the site. He claimed another cow recently died after eating waste from the area, increasing public anger among residents.

Locals Demand Immediate Action

According to Beyond Time News, protesters said they had repeatedly asked the Municipal Committee to stop dumping waste near Tarli Bridge, but no action had been taken.

Residents also said the growing garbage problem was affecting daily life, especially for schoolchildren and pedestrians using the route.

The protesters warned they would intensify their demonstrations if authorities failed to relocate the dumping site and address the issue quickly.
